(Canada – Wagon Repair)

Canada’s Mathew Jonson has become one of the pre-eminent producers and DJs in electronic music today.

Recording on internationally renowned labels such as Sub Static, Minus, Perlon, Kompakt, Itiswhatitis, Arbutus, and now on his newly formed label Wagon Repair, Jonson has created some of the most influential tracks of the past few years.

Mathew Jonson’s sounds focus on a multitude of outboard equipment and analogue instruments, which give him the distinct hands-on usage that has become notorious of his live performances. His music is a hybrid of styles; forging influences from Techno, Jazz, House, Drum‘n’Bass and Fusion to create flowing bass lines and synth melodies that have influenced his trademark tech-fusion sound.

What has often set Mathew apart from others is his ability to improvise and perform with other players in a live group setting. This has resulted in musical formations such as the Modern Deep Left Quartet and Cobblestone Jazz, who have developed an international reputation for their intensely soulful and masterful composition that translates both in recording sessions and in live performance.

With appearances on mix albums from Carl Craig, Daniel Bell, Adam Beyer, DJ Kosi, Monika Kruse and Ricardo Villalobos, and remixes for everyone from the Chemical Brothers and Moby to Nelly Furtado, Mathew Jonson has developed a large and varied following internationally.

But as such accolades continue to roll in, Mathew Jonson’s modesty continues to speak through the meditative sounds created in his studio, a testament both to his musicianship and his authentic nature. It will be a unique live treat at RAW 2009, when Mathew Jonson goes on stage featuring Roland 101s and 909s and much more analogue gear.

(Echocord, Culture Box, Tic Tac Toe)

Fierce competition breeds quality. The top DJs of Denmark are renowned for their technical skills and immaculate sets – a high standard set by years and years of competitiveness in Copenhagen. One of the finest members of this scene is DJ Lab.

With his fine-tuned ears for beats and breakdowns and highly accomplished abilities behind two decks, DJ Lab has been a match for pretty much every DJ he has played with.

Lab's style took off as straight up banging minimalism but has developed considerably over the years. Today, his arsenal ranges from Detroit Techno over trancey Cologne'ism to Minimal House. As long as it's quality, it's playable.

Lab has released on well-known Danish label Echocord – and more is on the way, by himself or in collaboration with several others of Denmark’s finest producers. Watch out – DJ Lab is only getting better and better.

(Culture Box, Echocord)

A legendary institution of electronic music in Denmark, Kenneth Christiansen a.k.a. Ned Flanders has since the nineties been a pioneer whether it comes to his DJing, his record label, Echocord, or his club, Culture Box.

In 2002 Kenneth founded the record label Echocord, distributed via Kompakt. So far he has released artists including Mikkel Metal, Fenin, Thomas Fehlmann, Vainqueur, Dug Surgeon, Jan Jelinek, The Modernist and Michael Mayer.
Himself a very busy DJ all over the world, Ned Flanders still finds time to run the leading electronic music club in Denmark.

In the end of 2004 he quit his job in a record shop to open Culture Box. It is a venue where Kenneth and other Danish promoters can throw their own parties, showcases etc. The club is a big success, featuring the world’s greatest artists such as John Tejada, Thomas Fehlmann, Superpitcher, Luciano, Isolée, Oliver Hacke, Wighnomy Brothers, Barbara Morgenstern, Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin.

Ned Flanders and Culture Box will, alongside Patrick Bateman and Tic Tac Toe, present Arena 4 at RAW 2009 featuring the very best of Techno!

(Tic Tac Toe, Connect Four)

Already a household name when the Danish club scene exploded in the late nineties, Kenneth Broxgaard a.k.a. Patrick Bateman has been a key party player for almost two decades.

He’s a prime son of a Danish club scene that just keeps getting better and better, and he knows all the artistic effects down to the last beat, from vicious Minimal to deep Tech-House. Musically, Detroit Techno and Chicago House made a huge impact on Patrick Bateman. But Minimal Techno and House have always taken up major parts of Bateman’s all-embracing record shelves. Since 99/00, he has been spinning Minimal Techno and House exclusively German-style and with the odd twist of Deep House and old school classics thrown in for good measure.

In 2004, Bateman started the label Tic Tac Toe Records, focusing primarily on the Danish talents, but also with international acts. The first 25 releases are already out, and have been played and charted by all the big DJ’s and the name Tic Tac Toe has been getting a lot of attention internationally. In Denmark it has led to an award as Best Label in 2007 and in 2008 Patrick Bateman won Best Danish Upfront DJ, showing that he is still on forefront of things even after 14-15 years of DJing. The guy may not be guzzling blood like his alter ego, but he’s a superb DJ.

Patrick Bateman and Tic Tac Toe will, alongside Ned Flanders and Culture Box, present Arena 4 at RAW 2009 featuring the very best of Techno!
